The Chilean golfer shed some light on the ‘dream’ of winning a major event, or one could say ‘dreams’ since there are four majors. But as it turns out, he will have a few hindrances in his way. What may you wonder? Well, the most recent one is that a PGA Tour pro brutally shot down his dream, which then made him the center point of LIV Golf fans’ critique.

Joaquin Niemann feels he is ready to compete on the big stage

After his much-deserved win at Mayakoba, the Torque GC captain made a shocking revelation. When asked about his dream of playing in the major tournaments, the 25-year-old was quick to affirm. Unfortunately, he was mocked by a fellow golfer, a PGAT pro, none other than Michael Kim.

He was further asked, “Are you hoping that this win gets the attention of the relevant bodies?” To this, he replied, “Oh, I hope so. I mean, I’m just ready.” He further shared a goal he has for 2024, despite it being unattainable for now. I want to win majors,” said Niemann. Although he jokingly also declared, that to emerge victorious at the grand stage, he also “gotta get in first!”

But it was Michael Kim’s 1-word jab at him saying “lol” that appeared to be either shooting down LIV golfer’s dream or maybe he found his ‘getting in first’ remark too hysterical.

This was not the first time when the Chilean golfer had expressed his wish to compete in majors. He also spoke about it last month and mentioned that the only reason he is playing on the DPWT is to earn OWGR points so that he could get a fair chance for the golf’s grandest stage.

This final statement from the LIV Golf player divided the golf community. While some critiqued him for his hypocritical views, others hoped that the merger talks between the PGA Tour and PIF would bring some good news.

What do LIV fans have to say about the PGAT player’s comment?

This ambiguous comment from the PGAT player has triggered the wrath of LIV golf fans. Many netizens took to the internet to further critique Kim, calling his opinions biased against Joaquin Niemann.

The single-worded comment has ignited a fire among LIV Golf fans, who have openly blasted Michael Kim. A fan even brought out a scorebook, pointing out the career achievements of both Kim and Niemann. Lastly, he just had one small remark for Kim, and it was “GTFO.”

Another fan called out Kim, stating, “Niemann would roll you rn and it’s not even close.”

A LIV Golf fan did agree with the PGAT player, stating it is indeed lol-worthy. But it’s funny because the best players in the world don’t play in the Majors.

A golf fan reminded Kim that the sport is about camaraderie and if Joaquin Niemann is worthy, he should get a chance to play.

One fan went to the root of this debate. The fan urged PIF and the PGA Tour to sort their differences out and let the golf world merge in peace.

With the debate between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour boiling, the dream of the Torque GC captain has become a catalyst. What are your thoughts on Joaquin Niemann wanting to play in Majors despite being in the breakaway league? Let us know in the comments section below.
