A good bunch of young lads are debuting in the Ryder Cup this year, and Nicolai Hojgaard is one to watch out for on that list. The tall Danish golfer has gained a fan following for himself in his short run on the DP World Tour so far.

The 22-year-old rose to fame after his victory at the 2021 Italian Open, where he stood above Tommy Fleetwood and Adrian Meronk by one stroke. Since then, there has been no looking back for the young talent, who is now competing in the 2023 Ryder Cup, where he’s being backed by his gorgeous girlfriend!

How the Italian Open opened up Hojgaard’s relationship with the world

Although his relationship has been public, little is known about his partner. Their relationship reached the mainstream golf world when Hojgaard and his girlfriend, Amanda Falkenberg, took a photograph after the golfer won the Italian Open in 2021.

Playing the Ryder Cup there, he might think of those sweet memories occasionally. Back in 2021, Falkenberg had accompanied Nicolai’s twin brother, Rasmus Hojgaard, and his girlfriend. The trio were there to support the Dane’s chase toward his first DP World Tour victory.

Hojgaard was quite elated at the event, mostly because of the win, perhaps. However, the happiness with which he appreciated his loved one’s being there for him was a warm sight to behold.

Rasmus is a golfer himself, and he has more wins to his name on the DP World Tour compared to his twin. The competitive edge Nicolai had was probably due to the consistency he has shown in the past year. The twins share a pretty good rapport, and it showed in the love and support they showed during the Rome celebration.

Nicolai expressed his gratitude and love for them, saying, “I’m very happy that Rasmus, his girlfriend, and my girlfriend were around watching.”

The 2023 Ryder Cup Gala

The Ryder Cup Gala that usually precedes the event happened this year as well. The Ryder Cup squad graced the event with their partners, and that includes Hojgaard too. Amanda Falkenberg was present with her boyfriend and turned heads in her elegant pink dress.

In the pictures shared on the PGA Tour website from the Gala, the couple doesn’t sport a picture of their own. However, the Ryder Cup’s official European team did. There was even a video of all the golfers and their significant others during the gala, and Hojgaard and Falkenberg were certainly a part of it!

It appears that the couple is avoiding the limelight to the extent possible. Very few pictures of them exist online. One of them, of course, is from the Italian Open. A picture of them at the recent Ryder Cup Gala is also available.

One other rare picture popped up, from the year 2019. The couple had visited a gala at the time too. It was when Nicolai Hojgaard was nominated for the Olympic Hope of the Year. And speaking about the recent Ryder Cup Gala, neither of the two has shared pictures of the event on their social media handles. Or did they?

How private are Nicolai Hojgaard and Amanda Falkenberg about their relationship? 

The two apparently like to keep things close. It would appear that Hojgaard might be a bit more keen on that front in comparison. His Instagram has literally no pictures of her, with or without him in the scene. His girlfriend, too, isn’t far behind. Her Instagram is a private account and requires a request to follow her.

This, however, seems like a very recent development, considering how in their article, Golf Monthly mentioned that Falkenberg occasionally shared pictures of them together. And I had shared a post by the two as well, for which now the link is broken.

While it’s possible that the post is still visible to her followers, it’s also possible that she has since deleted it to stay out of the spotlight. Irrespective of that, it certainly seems like her account was public until recently, perhaps until Hojgaard started making the news far more often!

Regardless of their privacy, the couple are undoubtedly adorable together, and hopefully soon more will be known about their relationship.
