The 44th Ryder Cup has been a dominant display of skills from the Europeans. The men in yellow and blue overshadowed their American guests by a 16.5–11.5 score, with the last three matches totally in favor of Europe. However, recalling the first pairing of the last day, it becomes salient to note the powerful battle between Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler.

The fight between the World No. 1 and World No. 3 golfers was clearly evident on the greens. Marco Simone witnessed some beautiful birdies from the clubs of both golfers. As a result, the outcome showed how neither of the two allowed the other to command the greens individually. Alas! The title dipped in favor of the Europeans eventually. Consequently, it was an emotional moment for players, including Jon Rahm, who expressed his emotions through an “inspirational” lens.

Jon Rahm, in a recent interview, highlighted his great comeback in the singles against Scottie Scheffler. While talking about gaining half a point from such a crucial match, the golfer indulged in the “biggest compliment” he has ever been bestowed with. It was a comment he received from his fellow Spanish golfer, Jośe Maria Olazabal, that Rahm considered to be a great honor.

The remark made by Olazabal surrounded the late Spanish golf star Seve Ballesteros, who, for Rahm, has always been an inspiration on the course. The PGA Tour professional revealed, “Ollie and I have spoken in length about all the things with Seve and what made him great.

While touching on these lines, the Spaniard expressed that Olazábal complimented him by saying, “On Friday afternoon, he said he had tears in his eyes, and he said I reminded him of someone today with how I played.” The same was posted by Irish Golfer on ‘X’ as the account reflected on the Spanish professional’s emotions moments after the coveted victory.

Eventually, with the line of their conversation surrounding Seve Ballesteros, it’s a probable indication of the comparison that has been drawn between the two Spanish icons. Jon Rahm further revealed that he has definitely taken the line “to heart” and is extremely glad to achieve the feat of making his fellow countryman and preceding star proud of his game. All the praise surrounding the golfer reminds the golf world of how Rahm executed his strokes and made it through the tournament with utter dominance.

Despite Scheffler’s subtle comeback, Jon Rahm displayed command throughout the 3 days

In the first single on the third day of the Ryder Cup, Jon Rahm and Scottie Scheffler exhibited a brilliant display of skills. Not only did both the golfers tame the Italian course with utter ease, but the result also ended up showing their shared command over the greens.

From slight leads to admirable comebacks, the game between the two witnessed it all, with both sides finally getting half a point from the match. However, despite not being able to defeat Scheffler in the last part of the tournament, no credit can be taken away from Rahm’s game over the past three days.

From his very first pairing with Tyrrell Hatton in the foursomes against Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns, the Europeans gained massive control of the match, winning it on the 15th hole itself. With a tie in the fourballs on the first day, Rahm executed two birdies in his usual collected style.

The second day was no less enthusiastic for the golfer, with him and his partner Tyrrell Hatton once again grabbing victory, defeating the duo of Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele on the 17th hole. While he did not play the fourball in the afternoon, the Spaniard had set the tone of dominance in motion through all his appearances.
