It truly wasn’t Scottie Scheffler’s day at the 2024 BMW Championship. The golfer, who played in 17 events this season and finished 16 times in the top-10, failed to leave his mark at the tournament on the first two days. However, what caught the attention of the fans was the ever-seemingly calm and reactionless professional throwing a tantrum at the par-4, 10th on the second day of play.
A video of the athlete expressing his anger was shared by NUCLR GOLF on their X handle. He had driven his tee shot into the rough on the right and then went ahead to badly hit his approach, causing the ball to go into the water. His next shot from the drop zone saw the athlete hit the spheroid into the place beyond the greens, past the flagstick. “How?” responded Scheffler in disbelief as he shouted, “What the F**k!! That’s impossible!”

The athlete then went on to score a double bogey at the par-4 hole. The figure, coupled with three bogeys and five birdies, could only help him register an even-par score on Friday. Consequently, Scheffler could only finish at T29, tied with Robert MacIntyre and Tony Finau, owing to his score of 1-under after two days of play. Nevertheless, his finish was the last thing on people’s minds as they took to the internet in reaction to his X-rated tantrum.

This wasn’t the only peculiar reaction that Scottie Scheffler displayed on the greens at the BMW Championship. The Texas native showed a lot more frustration than he usually does at any event this season, for he gestured angrily when he finished some holes and even sported a sarcastic salute following a bogey. His reactions, meanwhile, failed to impress many, as one of them took to the video and commented, “Acting like a spoiled country club brat today. Nothing is ever his fault.” Another follower had a similar line of thought as they replied, “Not a good look,” while alluding to the athlete.
Back at the 2023 PGA Championship, the golfer was arrested while attempting to cross near the scene of a deadly pedestrian crash that came about the morning of the second round. As a result, he was charged with second-degree assault of a police officer (felony), third-degree criminal mischief (misdemeanor), reckless driving (violation), and disregarding traffic signals from an officer directing traffic (misdemeanor). Although the charges were later dropped and everything was resolved, a user couldn’t help but allude to the same while attributing his reactions to the same: “Jail changed him”
Jordan Spieth didn’t have the best of times this season. Even though he did finish a T6 at the WM Phoenix Open, his top-10 placement was overshadowed by the golfer’s reaction to the fans heckling as he was about to take his shot. “What the f**k,” swore the PGA Tour Pro as he continued to play through the barrage of noises made by the fans. A user on X hinted at the same while urging Scottie Scheffler to not follow his example: “Last thing you want to do is start sounding like Spieth.”

The current No. 1 golfer on the OWGR, alongside his wife, Meredith Scheffler, welcomed his first son, Bennett, on May 8. Another follower hinted at the newfound fatherhood he is currently experiencing while attributing the frustrating reactions to his not being able to sleep at night due to the baby. Savage as it may seem, the fan asked, “Scottie developing some anger issues… Don’t know why interrupted sleep with a new baby?“
There are still two more days to go and plenty more opportunities for Scottie Scheffler to come out victorious at the 2024 BMW Championship. But to do that, the pro might really need to calm himself down as he tees off on August 24 alongside Adam Hadwin. But will he be able to do that? His fans can only hope so!
