After his split with Nike, Tiger Woods switched to his own Sun Day Red brand for his new apparel on the golf course. Now ahead of the Masters, the 48-year-old has completed the makeover as he swapped FootJoy shoes for Sun Day Red during the Monday practice round. This could indicate the end of the partnership with a brand that offered him the comfort he needed after his near-fatal accident.

Woods has been wearing FootJoy shoes since the 2022 Masters but Sun Day Red is now his go-to choice as seen at Augusta National Golf Club. During the practice session on Monday afternoon, Woods was spotted wearing a white sweater black pants, and a black hat, complemented with black shoes, with all of them Sun Day Red branded. The brand was launched in February and has garnered a lot of attention since.

Woods’s decision to wear a complete Sun Day Red ensemble at the Augusta National Golf Course just weeks before their scheduled drop on May 1st is bound to have a positive impact on the sales of the upcoming drop. Still, this isn’t the first time Woods has ditched FootJoy for Sun Day Red.

Earlier, this year Woods donned the brand’s apparel for the first time on the PGA Tour during the Genesis Invitational and was spotted wearing a black pair of Sun Day Reds. This was a surprise to many, considering the close association between Woods and FootJoy.

Following his car crash in 2021, Woods made sporadic appearances on the golf course. One of those was at the Masters 2022, where he was spotted wearing a pair of FootJoy shoes, despite his association with Nike. At that time Woods explained the reason behind his choice. “I have very limited mobility now. Just with the rods and plates and screws that are in my leg, I needed something different, something that allowed me to be more stable. That’s what I’ve gone to,” he pointed out. He stayed with FootJoy and didn’t go back to Nike afterward.

But ironically, the Masters, will once again be the scene of big change as Woods will wear Sun Day Red shoes for the event, sidelining FootJoy.

Quick Fact: If Tiger Woods manages to win at the 2024 Masters Tournament, he will become the youngest and oldest player to ever win the trophy, replacing Jack Nicklaus, who is currently the oldest winner to win the title at 46 years old.

But will the change in brand bring good luck to Woods? He did well during the practice round and has been doing his homework before the event.

Tiger Woods takes “drastic measures” to win the Masters

From scouting the greens weeks before the event’s start to vowing celibacy, Tiger Woods seems in no mood to leave any stone unturned in his attempts to win another major championship. While his recent past of back-to-back withdrawals and shaky health conditions act as a strong buffer in his dreams of resurgence, the Sunday Red mastermind is not ready to give up yet.

It has been reported that the PGA Tour sensation has been “working really hard in the gym. He’s eating right. He’s even eliminated sex,” in hopes of remaining as focused on the upcoming battle as possible. Only time will tell if any of these measures, coupled with his choice to forego his love for FootJoy shoes, will help Mr. Woods or act against him.
