The last time when Southern Hills hosted the 2007 PGA Championship, Tiger Woods was the winner. However, a lot changed this time. Unlike it, his leg injuries troubled him this time, and the golf world could clearly see that he was limping.
Woods could have blamed his high score in the last round on his injuries. However, the 15-time major winning champion took the high road and took the blame on himself.

“I just didn’t play well,” Woods said after the third round. “I didn’t hit the ball very well,” he added. “And got off to not the start I needed to get off to.”
Including a triple bogey on a par-3, Woods didn’t have a good grip on his game on Saturday. The windy and cold weather at the Southern Hills didn’t help the golfer either. On top of it, his limping got worsened compared with the Masters.
The result of such an eventful round? 79. It is Woods’ highest score ever in the history of the PGA Championship! Significantly, golf is one of the rare places where getting a high score is considered not good. And this seemed to frustrate the 15-time major winner.

It seems that the “work” didn’t help the golfer. The PGA of America informed the public that he had withdrawn from the event through a statement.
The 2022 PGA Championship is the second time Woods has played in an official event since he survived a terrible accident in 2021. And the Masters Tournament was his comeback championship. Going into the PGA Championship, Woods had confidence that his health was in a better place than his condition at the Masters.
