Luck has not been on Tiger Woods’s side when it comes to the Cognizant Classic. Earlier famously known as the Honda Classic, not even one of the 82 wins of the PGA Tour star comes from the Floridan greens that the event is played on.

It’s shocking, isn’t it? Despite being one of the greatest stars the game has ever seen, the 48-year-old has carded not even one win in the event, which began in 1972. So what has his track record been like?

Rewinding Tiger Woods’s luck at the Honda Classic

After making his Honda Classic debut at the PGA National Resort and Spa in Palm Beach Gardens back in 2012, the closest Mr. Woods has been to victory was that very year. The Golf World Hall of Famer finished tied for second in his first attempt at the event with a score of 10 under par.

Tragically enough, never again was the golf sensation able to replicate this result. Woods played the course three times more after his first attempt. His next best win, ironically, came in his last attempt at his hometown event. He finished in the 12th position in 2018, making it his second-highest finish to this day.

His other two attempts? Well, in 2013, the 15x major champion finished tied for 37th, and in 2014, the star had to withdraw due to his recurring back pain. His health and other factors were combined to account for the rest of his disheartening failures to be able to play the course.

Will Woods change the course of history at the 2024 Cognizant Classic?

The short answer to this is no. Sadly for Woods’s he is not a part of the field for the 2024 Cognizant Classic. The event is scheduled to be played from February 29th to March 3rd at the PGA National Resort Champion Course.

The decision to sit of the event follows a multitude of reasons, the major of which is his health. After facing the brunt of things due to a revival of his long-ongoing back spasms at the 2024 Genesis Invitational and later withdrawing due to being afflicted by Influenza, the star seems to be focusing his energy on getting better for the upcoming Masters Tournament at Augusta National.

This would mean that there will be no revival of his unfortunate track record at the Honda Classic this year as well. But who does emerge victorious on the greens will be a treat to witness! Stay tuned to find out!
