PGA Tour 2024: Top 5 Names Without Tour Cards for the Upcoming Season

With the 2022–23 PGA Tour season-ending, some golfers had to let go of their dreams! Many PGA Tour pros lost their membership cards for the upcoming season, owing to several reasons. The players ranked 150 onwards on the FedExCup Fall standings were some of the unfortunate golfers. A few lost their playing privileges as their previous exemptions ran out, and some could not rank better to secure the PGA Tour card.

Nonetheless, many golfers have been disappointed. From a silver medal olympiad to a 5x PGA Tour winner to Ryder Cup captains, here are the top 5 golfers without a PGA Tour membership for 2024.

8x PGA Tour winner loses Tour card

The players who finished anywhere between 1-125 on the FedEx Cup Standings have secured their cards successfully. While golfers from 126th to 150th will have a conditional status on the tour, On the other hand, the players ranking from 151st to the end will lose their cards for the upcoming season. Many were caught in the tide. Here are the top 5 golfers from the list who stand without a card:

1. Stewart Cink: Cink has won eight times on the PGA Tour. In 2023, the 2009 Open champion won none of the events and had only one top-10 finish. Moreover, he played 27 events out of which he missed cuts 14 times. The veteran also played on the PGA Tour Champions but has lost his PGA Tour card.

Although Cink’s last victory came at the 2021 RBC Heritage tournament, which will save him for the coming season, He will get the PGA Tour winner exemption for the 2024 season even though he stood 153rd on the FedExCup Fall standings.

2. Jason Dufner: The 2013 PGA Championship winner stands at 165th on the FedExCup Fall standings and has lost his PGA Tour card. With three top-25s and 33 runs in the 2022–23 season, Dufner missed the cut 13 times. His best finish came at the 2023 Fortinet Championship, where he finished T19 with 9 under 279.

The last victory that Dufner had was at the 2017 Memorial Tournament, which will not make him exempt for the coming season as three years from the winner’s exemption have run out. However, he does have more than 150 cuts made throughout his career and can be

exempted from them.

The 2023 Ryder Cup captains are out of the 2024 season.

3. Zach Johnson: The 2023 American Ryder Cup skipper is one of the unlucky players who has missed the 2024 PGA Tour membership. He played 22 events this season and could make the cut for only 13 of those. Johnson finished in the 167th spot on the FedExCup Fall standings and lost his card for the upcoming season.

The 2007 Masters and 2015 British Open winner stands 14th on the PGA Tour all-time money list and can use it as an exemption. Although the next move of the 2023 Team US Ryder Cup is unknown,

4. Luke Donald: Donald captained Team Europe to victory in Marco Simone, Italy. While prioritizing the patriotic battle, he competed in only 15 events and made the cut in nine of those. Standing outside the 150th mark at 187th, Donald cannot play for the 2024 season. Additionally, he has twice used his all-time money-winner exemption. Now, Donald’s further approach to the 2024 PGA Tour season remains uncertain.

5. Rory Sabbatini: Sabbatini is the 2020 Tokyo Olympics silver medalist and has won on the PGA Tour six times. This year, he was playing on the all-time money exception. Now, after ending on the 210th in the FedExCup Fall standings, Sabbatini is out of the PGA Tour 2024 season. He played 14 events and made the cut in only 2.
