The golfer’s beloved wife shed tears as her husband rolled the final putt and became the 2010 Masters champion. The two shared an emotional moment as he went up to her and hugged her after his win.

Phil Mickelson finally fulfilled his promise!

Mickelson had vowed to win the U. S. Open the previous year to place it near his wife’s hospital bed. However, he could only secure the runner-up position. 

Mickelson won the 2010 Masters Tournament for his wife and mother, both battling breast cancer, making it one of the sweetest sporting stories in ages.

“You can talk about how golf can be such a lonely game,” the tournament commentator said, watching Amy Mickelson’s celebration. “But you can share it, and you can win it for someone else.” He further added, “We’ve seen dedicated efforts before, dedication victories. This is gonna rank right up there with the best you’ll ever see.”

How did Lefty feel after the tournament? 

It was sure from the first round itself that Phil Mickelson would do anything to win his third Masters in 2010. He opened round 1 with an incredible 67 and finished the tournament with a tournament-best total of 272, since Tiger Woods achieved it in 2001. Notably, he made 16 birdies throughout the event.

“I’m in love with this place; it brings out the best in me,” Mickelson said after the victory“I wasn’t sure if she was going to be there today,” the golfer explained how he felt about his wife being there. “To walk off the green and share that with her is very emotional for us.”
