Unfortunately, due to his injuries, Tiger Woods has not played competitive golf since April. However, he has been making headlines in the golf world quite frequently. Because without the American patriot, the conversations about the Ryder Cup feel stale!

The United States team will fly to Rome soon and play on European soil, but the elite golfer will not be in the 12-player squad. The 2018 Ryder Cup saw him at the forefront of the mission in a foreign land. Was that his last shot at the patriotic showdown, or will he surprise the crowds this year?

Is Tiger Woods in the background now when it comes to Ryder Cup discussions?

It’s been five years, and Tiger Woods still remains a faint presence at the iconic event. But according to Zach Johnson, skipper of Team USA, Woods has been in touch with the squad. And is very invested in the team and what they can achieve.

Team Europe is vying for redemption after the Ryder Cup 2021, while America aims to end the 30-year-old losing streak on foreign soil. Either way, the iconic event will end by marking history. In what capacity can we expect Tiger Woods to be a part of it?

Woods, if possible, would have bled all three colors: red, white, and blue. And he has a treasure trove of experience when it comes to both golf and the Ryder Cup. So he will operate in the shadows, but the man will not part ways from the patriotic event, not just yet.

Team US Captain Zach Johnson has confirmed that Tiger Woods is one call away should there be any questions or tensions to be resolved throughout the Ryder Cup. He is a gold mine, and Johnson will not let Woods rest. And Tiger Woods is also in for the experience.

Woods was holding the American team’s hand during the 2021 international face-off

The legendary golfer flaunts a record of 13-21-3 for the eight editions of the iconic event. He also played the role of assistant captain during the Ryder Cup 2016 in Hazeltine. But similar to this year, he was missing in action at Whistling Strait in 2021, when the USA crushed Europe with a splendid 19-9.

Even then, he was prompt with his wishes and celebrations about the win. The then-US Captain, Steve Stricker, also leaned on Woods a lot, even though he was absent during the event. Arguably, his words of encouragement were beneficial to the winning squad of 2021.

History might repeat itself at Marco Simone in Rome. Whether Woods will take a flight or not, only time will tell, but one can undoubtedly say for certain that he will be there in spirit with the team every step of the way!
