The most prominent difference between the LPGA Tour and the PGA Tour is the gender of the golfers. While the men’s Tour was far more popular, we have seen moments when women were teeing it up at the PGA Tour tournaments, and those moments were glorified. The LPGA Tour is now on its way to becoming just as renowned as the PGA Tour with its groundbreaking events and increased prize money.

While many golf pros from both sides are building towards the upliftment of their own as well as the other’s, it seems like not all the golfers share this sentiment. In fact, just recently, one of the PGA Tour’s winners made a comment about the LPGA Tour that did not quite sit right with the fans.

The PGA Tour winner makes a distasteful comment about the LPGA Tour

One of the LPGA’s most innovative tournaments, the Mizuho Americas Open, has finally concluded. Rose Zhang, one of the most decorated professional golf debutants, made her way to the top of the leaderboard and emerged victorious at Liberty National in New Jersey. It was sure surreal to see a young golfer perform well and excel on the course.

A retired PGA Tour pro, Joe Ogilvie, took a snapshot of the LPGA Tour’s homepage on Saturday and expressed that the tour could do better. The tweet said that the LPGA Tour has the most decorated rookie golfer of the generation making her debut, and her name was nowhere on the front page. He further added, “Rose Zhang could be the needle mover.”

Among the immense attention that Ogilvie’s tweet had garnered, it also caught PGA veteran Joel Dahmen’s eye. But perhaps his words didn’t come off as well as he hoped. Re-sharing the retired golfer’s tweet, Dahmen wrote, “It’s amazing how hard it is to find LPGA scores even on their website.”

The 35-year-old golfer’s tweet in turn caught a lot of attention from the fans, and certainly not in a good way. His words had come off as belittling the LPGA, and fans were in no way happy about that.
