Phil Mickelson is 52 years old. However, the age just seems a number for the slimmed-down Californian who has been improving his strokes with each year passing. Over the last couple of years, the 6-time major champion has won only a handful of events. However, he has made sure to tremendously work on his health and physique to come out with a better version of himself.

While the reason behind Mickelson’s transformation remains a question, many believe that it was a result of him being diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis in 2010. Working on himself, the LIV Golfer has made sure to maintain excellent health even at this age. Something, which he opened up about last year.

Ever since taking up the pledge to transform his body, Mickelson had been on a strict six-day fasting routine. In addition to that, in the last couple of years, he had also taken up the practice of 36-hour fasting during the off weeks. A step, taken by him to detoxify his body and boost his immunity.

“I believe fasting has been a big part of my ability to recover, to get in better shape; to recover, to eat less and to not be held hostage by food,” Mickelson said during the interview. “I love food. I’ve always craved food and now I don’t. Now I feel better when I eat less and I eat healthy, and have more energy throughout the day.”

Giving up on his pleasure foods, Mickelson managed to pull back on his diet. However, that didn’t seem to be the case with his love for coffee. Modifying his coffee to suit his strict fasting routine, the American sensation opted for a unique blend. A blend, consisting of Ethiopian Yirgacheffe coffee, almond milk, cinnamon, and coconut MCT oil.

“I drink coffee all day long, And in the last 10 years, I haven’t been sick a single day,” Mickelson said.

A year after his iconic PGA Championship win, Mickelson today stands as a LIV Golfer. However, despite transitioning from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf, he has made sure to stick to his health routine. Something that has clearly done wonders for the 52-year-old.
