According to Musk, he has to pay over $11 billion in taxes this year. He wrote on his Twitter “For those wondering, I will pay over $11 billion in taxes this year”. Selling his stock has been connected to the same, many people sharing their various opinions.
Mickelson chose to thank Musk for the insane amount, something which fans found interesting and confusing at the same time. A select few remained unamused, wondering what six-time major winner was hinting at. “Just wanted to say thank you,” he said. “That’s only for the year. I can’t imagine how much you’ve paid the government over the years but thank you”.

Many referred to Mickelson as kind, thanking him instead for what he has done for golf. “Thank you Phil for the contributions you have made also to the nation and to the sport,” one fan wrote, adding that they appreciate him and what he has done. Some did not agree with what Mickelson had to say, while other fans defended the San Diego native.
This also seems to be the first time Mickelson and Musk have been associated together. However, Harris English did speak of pooling money together and sending Mickelson to the moon on one of Musk’s moon flight. “We all need to pool some money together to get him a seat on that Elon Musk flight to the moon,” he said. “The footage and commentary of Phil on the moon would be incredible”.
