The 2024 Masters generated buzz not only for featuring top-ranked golfers like Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy but also for marking the highly anticipated return of the golfing icon, Tiger Woods. Despite Woods’ valiant return to the golf course amid injury challenges, the legendary player fell short of delivering a strong performance at Augusta National.

However, his comeback appeared to hold greater significance for the fans than his performance in the tournament itself, as they were already thrilled to witness the GOAT back in the competition and compete for all four days. Despite finishing the tournament with a score of 16 over par, which marked his worst-ever performance at the Masters, Woods found some relief in the OWGR rankings.

After the conclusion of the tournament, Woods experienced a notable improvement in his OWGR rankings. Before the event, the 15-time major champion held the position of #959, and following the final round, his ranking surged to #784. Although the ranking may not be particularly high for the former #1 star, the jump comes as a ray of hope amid all the physical pain he had to endure at the tournament.

With his improved rankings, many are already speculating about Woods’ next appearance on the greens following his disappointing yet encouraged performance at Augusta, especially with the PGA Championship coming up as the next major of the season.

Will Tiger Woods play at the PGA Championship?

However, shortly afterward, the GOAT himself revealed the following: “I just [need to] keep lifting, keep the motor going, keep the body moving, keep getting stronger, and keep progressing.”
