Rory McIlroy was among the first to get selected for the 2023 Ryder Cup, and he now seems absolutely prepared for the event. Last week, the Irishman played in the BMW PGA Championship, where he finished T7. However, besides his preparation for the cup and participation in the above tournament, he also appeared on Golf.com’s Subpar podcast and gave the fans a preview of his game plan for the upcoming tournament.

During his appearance, the 7-time member of Team Europe spilled the beans on his strategy heading into Marco Simone, like how his preparation for major championships has changed over the years, and many other topics, which included discussions about the famed soccer star Lionel Messi and, of course, his idol and friend Tiger Woods.

It looks like McIlroy is certainly ready to fight for the Ryder Cup in Rome. This will be almost an entirely new team for him, with many debutants and new teammates coming into the scene. Though he misses the old names, like Sergio Garcia and his PGA Tour buddy Tiger Woods on the other side, who is taking a sabbatical, the 4-time major winner is also ready to form new associations with the likes of Aberg and Fitzpatrick. Whether or not he’ll dominate on the greens at the international face-off, though, remains to be seen!
