Witnessing the fan favorite, Lexi Thompson, after a successful career stepping away from the sport, surprised the entire community last year. Citing emotional well-being, she stepped away from being a full-time competitor at the course. However, now with the 2025 season in her fourth start, she has shared her feelings about becoming a part-time golfer at the 2025 Chevron Championship.

The 30-year-old shared about her potential starts after retirement, which left hope for the fans to still witness her in her course, but the speculation of witnessing the same was a big question. However, with her season’s first T13 finish at the Founders Cup, the speculation cleared out. Even after making the cut at the first major of the LPGA schedule, she was asked what the difference is in her now switched roles.

The moderator questioned, “Is there a big difference between Lexi, the player that played forever, and now Lexi, the part-time player?” The 11-time LPGA Tour winner answered, “I wouldn’t say a big difference. I’m the same person. Golfer-wise, maybe a touch because I’m not playing as much.” She has been an active participant on the course for the past decade, despite personal struggles.

Continuing further on how she still strives to improve, she added, “When I’m still at home, I’m still practicing and training. I love working out. I’m still striving to be better for when I do tee it up, because every time I tee it up, I still want to win. It’s not like I’m just going out here to show face. I’m still very competitive, and, yeah, I’m just trying to enjoy the few times I will play.”

Even during her off time, she has been constant with her practice and fitness. Thompson has shared regular updates on her journey to stay fit and polish her skills at various courses.

Now with the development in her personal and professional life, will she be able to stay as consistent as she was with her performance?

What’s your perspective on:

Can Lexi Thompson still dominate the course as a part-time player, or is her era over?

Lexi Thompson is juggling multiple roles

Starting off the 2025 year, Thompson shared about her engagement on social media. She had already mentioned that she hopes “to have a family one day.” During the vacation to Whistler, Canada, her long-term boyfriend, Max Provost, proposed to her. In addition to her personal life development, she has also stepped into the fitness ecosystem.

Earlier in August 2024, she shared about her fitness app, “Lexi Fitness App,” which offers fitness enthusiasts a guided roadmap to reach their fitness goals. Notably, the workouts on the app are guided by Lexi herself.

She was placed T13 at the Founders Cup, but soon after that, her performance saw a drop. In the later events, she was placed T38 at the Ford Championship and missed the cut at the JM Eagle LA Championship.

Now it will be interesting to see how she tackles three roles with her personal and professional life being a part-time LPGA pro. Surprisingly, unlike the 2024 season, the Florida native has made it to the weekend at the Chevron Championship, and she is well placed at T10 after two rounds.
