2023 Principal Charity Classic: Winning Purse and Prize Money Breakdown

The Principal Charity Classic 2023 is all set to begin at the Wakonda Golf Course in Des Moines, Iowa. The Wakonda Club was designed by William Langford, and the event has been organized by this golf club since 2013. This year will mark the 10th year of the event being organized at this golf course. The Principal Charity Classic was founded in 2001 under the name Allianz Championship. Since 2007 the former name of the event is now being used by an event that happens in Florida.

In 2022, the total prize money for the event was set at $1.85 million, and the winner, Jerry Kelly, took 15% of the sum, that is, $277,500 home after his amazing victory. Has the price money increased for the 2023 edition or is it the same? Let us look at the event’s purse for 2023 to find out.

The PGA Tour Champions has planned 28 events for the 2023 season that are scheduled to be organized in 20 different American states and three different countries. The overall purse of the Tour has been increased to $66 million, which is by far the highest in the Tour’s history. With the increase in the overall purse of the Tour, legitimately, the purse of various tournaments has also increased.

The 12th event of the season, the Principal Charity Classic, is just around the corner. It will begin on June 2 and conclude on June 4. The total purse of the event is set at a whopping $2 million, which is approximately 8% more than the previous year.

Principal Charity Classic 2023 Purse Breakdown

A total of 78 players will compete on the field to get the maximum share of the $2 million purse. The winner will take $300,000 home, a standard 15% of the purse, which is approximately $22,500 more than last year. The runner-up will win $176,000, or 8.8% of the $2 million purse.
