When PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan, revealed that the PGA Tour and LIV Golf would soon unite, the golf community was in utter disbelief. For those who have been following the disagreement between them since the beginning, this totally came as a shock.

Many golfers who moved to LIV Golf from their respective leagues were heavily scrutinized. Those who rejected million-dollar deals were praised. However, these circumstances are now completely irrelevant. Regarding its choice, the PGA Tour is currently in the hot seat. Many believed the illustrious league had betrayed its players, particularly its star athletes. The PGA Tour now has an announcement for all.

Many others said that if the decision to merge with LIV Golf was the consequence of all the controversy, then players shouldn’t have turned down the substantial compensation LIV Golf was providing. Tiger Woods reportedly rejected an almost a $800 million deal when he was asked to move to LIV Golf. For many spectators, this brand-new feature gives the impression that players who were devoted to the PGA Tour were somehow taken advantage of. And those who switched to LIV Golf were in a better financial position.

In response to all this speculation, Monahan made some big promises to all those PGA players who stayed in the league. NUCLR GOLF, a notable golf-related account, shared his promise on its official Twitter account. The post says: BIG PROMISES — PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan made a big promise to top players during Tuesday’s meeting: “Those top 10 guys that are with the PGA Tour are going to make more money over their career than the guys that left. I promise you that!” (Per @ToddLewisGC)”

Not only the deal, but the PGA Tour players’ lack of awareness was also a bone of contention for many fans. Many people noted that Woods and Rory McIlroy were not even aware of the merger until the news of it was made public, thus demonstrating improper communication. The PGA Tour has now responded to all of the inquiries.

During meeting with the media, Monahan clarified the merger’s secrecy. He claimed that the decision not to include players in the decision-making process was motivated by a number of significant factors. He proceeded by noting that the agreement was still in its early stages and that reviews from Woods, McIlroy, and other athletes would be obtained. Monahan also asserted that the board and the deal both value the opinions of the players.
