PGA Tour pro wears an untucked shirt during a tournament
The PGA Tour is currently in Hawaii with its players for the 2023 Sentry Tournament of Champions. Many top players on the tour are part of the most-awaited event. And fans are tuning in and watching the event on their TV sets. However, something not very strange was done by one of the players on the field recently. And some fans are not letting it go.
A recent tweet by GolfWeek’s senior writer Adam Schupak shared that J.J. Spaun wore an untucked shirt on the field. And when he asked the golfer about his apparel, here’s what he said.
“Outrage? I mean, it’s Hawaii. We’re in Maui. It’s sunny. I mean, you got to hang loose, right? So whatever. I mean I got a lot of good compliments for it from the locals so that’s all I’m trying to impress are the locals here”.

Not so outrageous, right? Well, wait till you see what the fans had to say about it.
Fans react to Tour pro’s untucked shirt on the field
After the tweet was reshared by FlushigItGolf, fans started to give all kinds of reactions to it. Here’s what some of them had to say:
Some fans said that professional golfers are people that younger players look up to. And them wearing untucked shirts is a little unethical. Fans also compared golfers to footballers and said that tucked shirts had nothing to do with one being athletic. It was in response to FlushingItGolf’s quote tweet about the matter.
Because amateur golfers view pros as final realized forms of what we aspire to be. I know 700 guys who are fun to drive around in a golf cart with? blasting Santana chugging a beer with their shirt untucked. I know 0 pro golfers.

So Football or running as examples are not athletic? Both sports the players/athletes have their shirt tucked in! Not sure why the athletic comment is relevant to justifying having your shirt not tucked in?!

While some fans went a little too over the top and made a lot of statements about players wearing untucked shirts. They even said that wearing untucked shirts was showing disrespect to the game in some way.
Untucked golfers don’t fix their divots/pitch marks. Untucked golfers ruin pace of play. Untucked golfers harass the cart girl and drink too much. Untucked golfers blare music no one wants to hear from their carts. Untucked golfers spit sunflower seeds on greens. Have fun adding

I don't tuck it in, but when I play in a Pro Tournament again it will be tucked. I've no problem showing respect

On the other hand, there were some who were fine with Spaun’s shirt. All they cared about was that the players were playing well and having fun in Hawaii. Some even said that the players might tuck their shirts in, but can’t keep it that way till the 18th hole. So there was no point tucking it inside in the first place!
No, just certain writers want the shock value. The shirt looked great. I takes his writings as a hack. I see his name and just ignore what he says. No balance, just wants the headlines! Truth!

Who cares? Honestly? He’s in Maui and playing great. Just enjoy the drone shots.

Half of the tucked in golf shirts are disheveled after 18 holes, so I think the untucked look is pretty spot on.
