The professional has been called out by many of his peers for his slow pace of play at a lot of events, including the 2023 Masters. The golfer was accused of being exceptionally slow by his Ryder Cup teammate Brooks Koepka, who had to wait for Cantlay and Viktor Hovland to finish in order to play the same hole on the final day.

The first session saw Europe leading in all four of the matches and winning two of them. This had already enraged American fans a lot. And then the sight of a hatless Cantlay made it worse. Cantlay and Schauffele are currently 2-down against Tommy Fleetwood and Rory McIlroy.

One can’t expect such a comparison to go on without a reply. Another person replied to the tweet as he hilariously likened the golfer to an American murderer and suspected serial killer Ed Gein. Woah! That’s a rough one!

A netizen mentioned how Viktor Hovland was not helping the European cause, for not playing as per expectations. But the thought was quickly contested by another fan who thought Cantlay was the problem for not wearing a hat. Can you believe it?

This user turns up the heat on Cantlay and says he looks like “the little-known accountant”.
