Winning a major in his PGA Tour rookie year and long driving skills made John Daly one of the most famous golfers in America. However, his career went downhill in less than two decades since his first major victory. And the golfer blamed another famous golf entity for being a factor that led his career to end.

“I think his lies kind of destroyed my life for a little bit,” Daly said about his former coach Butch Harmon. “The lies he said about being at the Hooters tent and all this stuff.”

Notably, Butch Harmon is one of the most famous golfing coaches in the history of golf. He has trained a lot of high-profile players like the former world no. 1s Greg Norman, Tiger Woods, and Dustin Johnson. In fact, Woods had 8 out of his 15 major championship victories with Harmon’s training.

The situation that led John Daly to believe Harmon destroyed his life!

Harmon has helped many golfers have their dream careers by staying by their side for years. However, after working with Daly a couple of times, the swing coach dropped him. “My whole goal for him was he’s got to show me golf is the most important thing in his life,” Harmon said after he stopped working with Daly. “And the most important thing in his life is getting drunk.”

Notably, the golfer revealed that Harmon made up half of what he said and claimed that he hardly drinks nowadays, in a 2008 interview. According to Daly, the coach cut ties with him soon after he alleged him of drinking during the event. “I mean, it’s kind of ridiculous,” he added. “Real men just don’t do that.”

Does Daly still play professional golf?

Butch Harmon dropped Daly at the beginning of 2008. Although he kept playing in the PGA Tour events, he hasn’t won any titles yet. Furthermore, the golfer attended the 150th Open Championship a couple of weeks ago, although he couldn’t make the cut.
