On Twitter, Golf Channel recently shared a video clip of an interview with Rory McIlroy, where he talked about how a legend’s advice had him contemplating his choices.

In the interview, McIlroy talked about how grateful he was to have the chance to talk to Tiger Woods, and how much he learned from the golfing great. McIlroy’s willingness to ask Woods for help shows how humble he is and how much he wants to keep improving his game. 

He shared, “I also had a good chat with Tiger a couple of days after Quail Hollow about some stuff on my swing. That’s really helpful.”

He then added, “I was really appreciative of him to reach out and just sort of share some of his thoughts with me.”

Rory expressed in that interview, “In town last week, which has been a big help.” McIlroy mentioned Woods as“the greatest player of all time.”

This connection serves as a reminder of the unity and the shared pursuit of excellence that characterizes the sport, which comes at a time when fans are anxiously awaiting the next chapter in McIlroy’s career.

Currently, McIlroy is going through a challenging time. After a missed cut at the Masters and his penalties following a withdrawal from elevated PGA Tour events, he hasn’t fared very well. He also previously disclosed his struggle with mental health owing to all the pressure that he has been under.

Fans wondered why McIlroy didn’t play in the Sentry Tournament of Champions and the RBC Heritage Championship, as missing two designated events would incur a penalty. As a result of missing these two events, McIlroy faced a 25% loss or $3 million of the $12 million he earned as PIP bonus in 2022.

Such a reckless decision made fans wonder what went down with McIlroy. Some people said it was because he didn’t do well at the Masters and didn’t make the cut, which put off his goal for a Grand Slam, while some indicated it to the golfer’s personal issues. But in a conversation with Golf Channel’s Todd Lewis, which was posted on the official Sky Sports News Twitter account, McIlroy finally answered the question that fans had been thinking about for weeks.
