The DP World Tour Dubai event didn’t disappoint fans for a second. There was always something keeping the viewers on the edge of their seats. And for that, the fans owe a big thank you to Patrick Reed. With multiple controversies and a huge comeback in the final round, the LIV golf defector was the talk of the show. But one of the most controversial incidents was a regulation ruling in the third round. And many in the golf world are still upset about it. Despite the drama-filled event now being in the rearview mirror, some players seem to want to keep the controversy alive. Among them is Mike Lorenzo-Vera. The golf pro took to Twitter and wrote, “I just don’t understand how players stays silent after being robbed one spot by someone that cheated.”
I just don’t understand how players stays silent after being robbed one spot by someone that cheated. Fantastic golf player. But Reed fuck’n cheated !!!! How can you identify 100% something very specific on your ball that is not in the tree ??? How is the guy not DQ ????

The pro golfer was furious about Reed’s third-round controversy, in which he hit his ball toward three trees. The nine-time PGA Tour winner identified his ball in the left-most tree and convinced the official that it was his by identifying a specific marking. Following this, Reed played his next shot form adjacent to the tree with a one-stroke penalty, as opposed to suffering the same penalty and replaying his previous shot.

Soon after the incident occurred, the media were on it like white on rice. Golf Channel commentator Brandel Chamblee even used slow-motion to break down the footage of the shot. The footage was also unclear as to where exactly the ball landed. However, it raised further questions about whether Reed had lied.
Many more share Lorenzo-Vera’s opinion that the LIV golfer cheated. A PGA Tour pro, Byeong Hun An, is among them too. In a subtle tweet, he threw shade at Reed. “Next time I’m stuck on top of the tree, I’m just going to drop where I think it went,” he wrote. “There’s no need to identify it.” He is certainly on the Frenchman’s side.
