The 2023 season has been a blessing for 24-year-old Ludvig Aberg. The golfer from Sweden had done what many never expected of him. The 1x PGA Tour winner is quite likely to win the Arnold Palmer Award, a.k.a., The Rookie of the Year Award (awarded to the most successful Tour debutant). However, his eyes are perhaps on another feat altogether!

Aberg started the 2023 season ranked 3064th on OWGR. But after a successful season, he has now propelled himself more than 3000 places up the list and is on his way to clinch another accolade under his wing as the youngest Swede.

Ludvig Aberg is on the rise to make OWGR history

Ludvig Aberg made his professional debut as the first recruit from the PGA Tour University in June. The golfer from Texas Tech charted the PGA Tour-U ranks and became the first Swedish golfer to get the PGA Tour card through PGAT-U.

Soon after, the golfer made his debut on the Tour as a pro, and just 3 months later, he secured his maiden victory at the Omega European Masters on the DP World Tour. Consequently, Aberg became one of the easy choices for Luke Donald for the 2023 Ryder Cup. At the international event, the Swedish golfer then made his debut and carded a 2-2-0 score, shocking the masses with his exceptional talent.

Although Aberg was achieving at large on the European circuit, he was still struggling to earn the first PGA Tour title. But not for long! Just last month, the youngster won the RSM Classic and pushed himself into the top 50 world rankings. After achieving the 32nd rank on OWGR, it is now being speculated that, before the conclusion of 2023, Aberg may become the youngest Swedish native to be under the top 30.

As the tweet suggests, Aberg, who sits in the 32nd rank, will move up by 2 positions, which in turn will crown him as the 10th and youngest Swedish golfer to be in the top 30. If the 24-year-old does attain the rank, it will only add to the titles and records he has broken this year and impressed the golf world with.

Other big records Aberg has amassed this year

After making his Ryder Cup debut at Marco Simone, Italy, Ludvig Aberg became the only player in history to play the Ryder Cup before playing any of the four majors. However, that wasn’t all.

Another feat Aberg clinched this year was winning on both the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour in his debut year. He is now the only pro in the history of the sport to have ever done so.
