Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau made their professional debuts at LIV Golf Portland, among other players. And now in the next event, both stars will headline the tournament as captains. Moreover, former the Ryder Cup teammates have been using their influence to sign talented PGA Tour players for their teams.

Paul Casey, Charles Howell III, and Jason Kokrak became the latest entrants to join the LIV Invitational Series. Casey and Howell joined Crushers GC team which is led by Bryson DeChambeau, while Kokrak joined Brooks Koepka’s Smash GC.

According to Golf Digest’s Dan Rapaport, both DeChambeau and Koepka called out their present teammates while they were playing on the PGA Tour. Furthermore, he added that nearly all the captains have been using the same recruiting policy to join their squads.

Rapaport tweeted, “Paul Casey and Charles Howell III said Bryson DeChambeau called them and that’s how they started getting involved with LIV. Kokrak says same about Koepka.”  He added, “I’ve heard the same—that team captains have been recruiting players to join their squads. Interesting.”

Both Paul Casey and Charles Howell III have been part of the PGA Tour for more than two decades, while the 37-year-old Jason Kokrak turned professional back in 2008. Though none of them have any Majors to their name, the trio is still regarded as a sight to watch.

Though many fans showed their anger towards the LIV Golf leaders, some even questioned the new participants for blaming the captains for their controversial decision. One fan tweeted, “So Kokrak, who is sponsored by Saudi Golf, wasn’t going to join LIV until Koepka talked him into it LOL??”

Regardless, the recruiting policy followed by the team captains is still unethical. Though they may have left the PGA Tour to join the lucrative series, the golfers must still show respect to the 92-year-old Golf Tour. This will only impact the reputation of the golfers.

As the Saudi-backed Golf Tour is expanding its wings, we can expect more drama in the upcoming days. The forthcoming event in Bedminster will pocket the winner a comfortable $4 million. Moreover, each member of the winning team will bring home an additional $750,000. The new additions only make the event more exciting.
