Yani Tseng’s return to the winner’s circle has sent ripples of joy across the golf world. The Taiwanese star, once hailed as golf’s youngest five-time major champion, ended her 12-year-long title drought with a remarkable victory at the 2025 Wistron Ladies Open. For fans and fellow players, it felt less like a win and more like a long-awaited moment of redemption. Her last victories on the LPGA Tour came in 2012, when she won the Honda LPGA Thailand, the RR Donnelley LPGA Founders Cup, and the Kia Classic.

Tseng claimed her seventh Ladies European Tour title at the Sunrise Golf and Country Club in Taoyuan, Taiwan. She finished 14-under after rounds of 63 and 67. Following her was New Zealand’s Amelia Garvey, who finished at 10 under par. LETGolf and the TLPGA took to Instagram to share this achievement.

The event was cut to 36 holes because of rain and fog, but nothing could dim the brilliance of her performance. When she sank her final putt, emotion took over. “I’ve been waiting for this trophy for so long,” she said. “To win this tournament in my home country and in front of my family and friends is amazing. I’ve been really emotional from this win, and just shows you should never give up on your dreams.”

Tseng’s words show that it’s never too late to achieve your goals if you continue to work towards them with dedication. It couldn’t have been better for the Taiwanese golfer, as she won on her home soil. Her last win on the Ladies European Tour came in 2014, when she won the Taifong Ladies Open. As she ended the drought, both fans and LPGA stars alike poured wishes on Instagram.

Golf fans and friends rally to cheer Yani Tseng

When LETGolf and the TLPGA shared the news of Tseng’s triumph on Instagram, the reaction was immediate. Comments and stories flooded in from some of the game’s biggest names. The current World No. 5, Charley Hull, shared wishes by reposting the TLPGA’s post on her Instagram story. She wrote, “Buzzing to see this!!!!!” It reflected a sentiment that echoed the excitement of fans worldwide.

Hull has been riding on the excitement and joy herself. She recently won the 2025 Kroger Queen City Championship by beating the current World No. 1, Jeeno Thitikul, and the former World No. 1, Nelly Korda. Like Hull, Hsu Wei-ling also uploaded a story and called Tseng the “G.O.A.T”. Hsu is a Taiwanese golfer, like Tseng. She has mentioned looking up to Tseng as a hero, and watching her play and win the 2011 Swinging Skirts LPGA Taiwan Championship. “Way too many people,” Hsu said. “For my height, it was a little hard to see her shot.”

While Hull and Hsu shared stories, many others commented on the Instagram post by LETGolf and TLPGA. One of them was Jessica Korda, who was just as thrilled, writing, “Wooooo !!! Go Yani!!!🔥.” Both Tseng and Korda have been contemporaries on the LPGA Tour and have played in the same tournaments multiple times over the years. They were even nominated together for Female Athlete of the Year in 2012. Mariajo Uribe added her enthusiasm with a fiery, “🔥🔥🔥 Congrats @yanitseng 🔥🔥.”

Although most of these golfers looked at Tseng as their idol, there was someone whom the Taiwanese star looked up to: Annika Sorenstam. The American LPGA legend, who has played golf with Caitlin Clark, wrote a simple but heartfelt message, saying, “Awesome! Congratulations 👏.”

These reactions captured more than admiration. They reflected the deep respect players hold for Tseng’s perseverance. Once a dominant figure who inspired an entire generation, she now stands as an example of resilience and belief.
