Rickie Fowler is a part of the star-studded line-up for this week’s PGA Tour event, the Wells Fargo Championship. The American professional played some beautiful iron shots, and his ball-striking was immaculate in the first and the second rounds of the event. However, Fowler stole the limelight with his fantastic approach shot in the opening round.

On Thursday, Fowler made probably one of the most incredible bogeys in his first round at TPC Potomac. The professional was even-par through five holes and hit a wayward tee shot on the par 4 sixth hole. He hit his drive into the area right of the fairway and had to take a drop. He hit his next shot from a forward tee box but pushed his drive again into the same area. However, this time the 33-year-old found his ball.

Fowler then pitched his ball out 57 yards back into the fairway on the sixth hole. But the shot that hit after this is probably one of the best recovery shots ever, and he created a historical bogey with it. The video of the same also went viral on various social media platforms.

As a result, he made a historical five on the whole. According to the PGA Tour, Fowler made the longest hole-out from the fairway to make a bogey or worse by any player by ShortLink or in the ShortLink era, which has been used in most of the Tour events since 2004. Do you think he will be able to end his rough patch and win at the 2022 Wells Fargo Championship?

What did Rickie shoot in the second round on Friday?

After making a solid start to the event on Thursday, with an opening round of four-under-par, 66, he could not keep the momentum going in the second round on Friday. In the challenging and rainy conditions, the American professional carded a second round of two-over-par, 72, to finish with an overall score of two-under-par.

As a result, he has some work to do to catch the leader in this third round. His round on Friday included three bogeys on the opening nine holes. Hence, he moved out in three-over-par, 38. Fowler made two birdies and one bogey on the back nine to finish round two in tied 23rd position currently.
