It is not a secret that the NBA legend Michael Jordan loves playing golf and often seems to play with professional golfers. However, did you know that the 5-time PGA Tour winner Rickie Fowler has never beaten him at his private golf club?
The golfer described how it is like to play golf with Jordan when he appeared as a guest on the Full Send Podcast.

“I haven’t beaten him at Grove,” Fowler said, much to the hosts’ surprise. The 33-year-old explained that he hasn’t played with the NBA legend much this year. However, they used to play a lot with each other.
Grove XXIII is a private golf club owned by Jordan located in Hobe Sound, Florida. The former Chicago Bulls shooting guard opened the 72-par golf course in 2019 by to play with his friends.
According to Fowler, Jordan still carries his fire to talk trash on the golf course like he used to on the basketball court. “I mean, he’s not laying into you like that,” the golfer added. “We have some fun out there,” he stated.

Furthermore, the 5-time Tour winner explained how their routine is when they play together. “It’s usually Tee off around nine or ten,” he described the routine to the hosts. “…and play 36 and done by about four and no stopping, just go.”
Rickie Fowler and Michael Jordan make bets while playing golf!
It is a well-known fact that golfers, professional or not, gamble money sometimes. Although Fowler hasn’t placed a bet during an official tournament, he admitted that he does it on friendly games.
“I mean, that’s gambling that you have control over,” the golfer said about gambling in fun events. “I mean, it’s nothing crazy,” he further explained how much money he gambles in an event. “Probably the most I’ve played for is like five grand.”

“Like, when I play with MJ, our standard’s 500 and a thousand on the second 18,” Fowler described the usual bettings between him and Jordan. “He would play for whatever you want.”
Fowler revealed later in the podcast about Jordan’s way of gambling. However, he doesn’t think that no one in the golf world has taken that bet ever.

Although Fowler is one of the best golfers in America with 5 titles under his name, he couldn’t defeat Jordan at Grove XXIII. However, he doesn’t pool a lot of money in those matches. Hence, it is safe to say that losing in those friendly matches hasn’t turned out to be bad for the golfer.
