The 2025 Walmart NW Arkansas Championship was a significant moment for Alison Lee, who was playing on the second tour after a comeback on the LPGA. She finished the first round tied for third with 7 under par. Her comeback looked ready for a breakthrough that would help bag her first LPGA Tour win. But it didn’t end as expected.

Extreme weather impaired her opportunity to win at the Pinnacle Country Club. The LPGA had to cancel the event, and the 30-year-old has shared how she felt. “Unfortunately, I was really disappointed with how Arkansas ended because I really felt like things are coming together,” Alison Lee told The Mixed Bag podcast.

Her form in the game certainly made it look like everything was coming together. After tying for third at the end of the first round, she also clinched a first-position tie at the start of the second round with an early 1-under in the first three holes. But her comeback attempt was immediately shut down.

Heavy rains dumped 3.25 inches in Arkansas on Saturday, September 20, 2025, forcing the LPGA to cancel its $3 million event. Alison Lee’s hopes for her first title ended as poor weather persisted into the second round. With the 54-hole tournament cut short, prize money was awarded based on first-round scores. Lee earned $67,078, while all 144 players also received $3,500 each.

“For now, please know that our partners at Walmart and P&G have generously committed to pay out more than what’s required in the event of a tournament cancellation. In addition, they’ve also committed to ensuring every player receives compensation regardless of where they stand on the leaderboard after 18 holes of play,” the LPGA said.

It is understandable that no compensation could match the joy of the first LPGA title victory. But despite being disappointed, Alison acknowledged the management’s decision. “At the end of the day, I think they made the right call, and there was nothing we could do about that,” said Lee. This was not the first time that rain had interrupted play. For instance, the 2024 TOTO Japan Classic was also canceled after rain washed out Saturday’s 3rd round play. The Women’s US Open was also suspended back in 2020. It was due to a 0.73-inch rainfall on the golf course at the Champions Golf Club, Texas.

While she didn’t get her first LPGA win, Lee’s form in Arkansas shows that her comeback is on solid ground. If she continues the way she played at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship in her upcoming tours, she is likely to top the leaderboard. Let’s find out which tours she will participate in next.

Alison Lee’s upcoming schedule

Alison felt ‘mom guilt’ for leaving her son Levi at home for golf. However, she wanted to give golf one more try. “I want to give golf one more real try,” Alison said during a press conference before the Aramco Houston Championship. Thus, she returned to work just 18 weeks after giving birth to Levi.

She ended up at T14 with a score of 2-under par at the Aramco Houston Championship. The next stop was the Kroger Queen City Championship, where she didn’t make the cut. She then finished T3 at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship based on her scores after the first round.

The LOTTE Championship in Hawaii, scheduled for October 1-4, 2025, will be Alison’s next tournament. She will play alongside other top players like Nelly Korda, Charley Hull, and Stacy Lewis. It is likely that she participates in subsequent tournaments, including the Buick LPGA Shanghai and the BMW Ladies Championship. However, she has not made any official statements about her schedule beyond Hawaii.

While the rain cut short her dream of an LPGA title, Alison’s performance shows that she is ready for a comeback. Let’s wait and watch how she performs in the upcoming tournaments.
