This is a good phase of McIlroy’s career. His win at the Scottish Open ended his dry spell of eight months on the PGA Tour. And his run at the FedEx tournaments has also been spectacular. Despite his back injury, McIlroy maintained his place in the top 5 in all three of its events.
And the Northern Irishman is once again ready to deliver a great performance at the Irish Open. He will be playing at the event after a gap of one year after missing the last edition.

McIlroy has a special attachment to the Irish Open. He won the tournament in 2016 when the event was called the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open. His winning moment on the 570-yard par 5 16th, where he made a drive down the middle of the fairway followed by a perfect 3-wood, still remains memorable.
