Rory McIlroy is among the famous names teeing up this week at the Travelers Championship in TPC River Highlands. He is among the professionals who have been quite outspoken about their views on the LIV Golf league. Moreover, McIlroy spoke boldly for players who are shifting to the new tour.

The four-time major championship winner talked about professionals leaving the PGA Tour on Wednesday. He spoke about the same in a press conference after his practice round at the demanding TPC River Highlands. Moreover, the Northern Irishman said it’s a surprise to see players like Brooks Koepka shifting. At the same time, McIlroy talked about how this can be due to some legal reason or other reasons.

Not to forget, at a press conference at the U.S. Open Koepka talked about players joining LIV Golf. He said, “I’m here at the U.S. Open. I’m ready to play U.S. Open.”

However, seven days later, Brooks’ team confirmed that he was shifting to the Saudi-backed golf league. Professionals like Patrick Reed, Abraham Ancer, and Koepka will also be part of the second LIV Golf event, starting next week in Portland. The event will take place at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club. It will be interesting to see how Koepka will respond to these comments.

The 32-year-old ridiculed the fellow professional after being asked if he was surprised form Koepka’s decision. He said, “Am I surprised? Yes, because of what he said previously. I think that’s why I’m surprised at a lot of these guys because they say one thing and then they do another, and I don’t understand that and I don’t know if that’s for legal reasons or if they can’t.”

He added, “But it’s pretty duplicitous on their part to say one thing and then do another thing.” Moreover, the 33-year-old professional’s words prove how the PGA Tour pros change their minds within days. It also depicts how they cannot stand up to their words. Moreover, only time will tell if more professionals will join the new league.

What did McIlroy shoot in the final round at the U.S. Open?

The big hitter played good golf throughout the four rounds at the tough and challenging Country Club. Rory shot a final round of one-under-par, 69 to finish high on the leaderboard. Moreover, he ended the tournament with an overall score of two-under-par. As a result, the young professional finished in tied fifth position on the leaderboard on Sunday.

His final round of 69 included three birdies, three bogeys, and three pars on the opening nine holes. As a result, McIlroy moved out in level-par, 35. He made two birdies and one bogey on the back nine to end his round. Do you think Rory will win this week?
