We have seen the well-documented body transformation of DeChambeau over the last few years, and he is the epitome of how important it is to work off the course to impact the swings. But after the latest performance of McIlroy, we cannot deny his incredible speed and potential at a swing speed.

DeChambeau has worked hard on his body and has stirred his golf game. He has bulked up in the gym and adjusted his golf swings. As a result, his driver clubhead speed has reached a staggering figure of 132 mph from 118 mph in just a few years. They recorded the impressive rate of the LIV player at 138.39 mph during the 2021 season.

Not to mention the tremendous average speed off the tee of McIlroy is 182.98 miles per hour. This year, they ranked him ninth on the overall speed PGA Tour chart. The impeccable strength allowed the former no. 1 to register a ball going with the speed of 190.59 miles per hour off the tee. According to the data, even his slowest, 167.82, has been way more than DeChambeau’s.

In 2018, according to TaylorMade’s launch monitor data of McIlroy, his speed would bump from 120mph to 180mph, which was considered incredibly efficient.
Does Rory have a bright future at the CJ Cup?
The Ireland pro golfer took everyone by surprise after his performance in the third round of the CJ Cup in South Carolina. He has upped his chances of winning the cup if he can finish second, and the current no. 1, Scottie Scheffler, finishes worse than anybody’s expectation. They could also end up tieing for the second position, whcih would defeat the purpose for McIlroy.

Another chance that can make McIlroy win, is him finishing second alone and Scottie finishing lower than a 34th rank. However, Rory is focused on going out there and playing the final round to return with a win. He said, “So for me, tomorrow I need to go out there, set myself a score that I want to shoot, try to do that.” And, it won’t be a surprise, as, with his head speed, it can be a piece of cake.
