We are just a few days away from the 2025 season of golf. Fans have already started to predict their winner for all the events. While most of the fans have picked last season’s winner, the victory-less players face disappointment as they are being underestimated. Rory McIlroy is at the top of the list, even after winning ‘The Showdown’ with his teammate Scottie Scheffler.

The Showdown isn’t the only tournament that McIlroy won. There are many others, including Hero Dubai Desert Classic, DP World Tour Championship, and Wells Fargo Championship. Apart from these, the Irish golfer was close to ending his major title drought but finished runner-up in the U.S. Open. The 10-year-long drought is still continuing. The last major win was at the 2014 PGA Championship, which has been a while.

Now fans are expecting the same spree to be followed by the golfer. A recent Golf Monthly post on X, asked fans for their opinions. It turned out to be disappointing for the four-time major champion. The post shared a question, “Rory McIlroy wins ______ Majors in 2025? Fans pointed out that his record from the last 10 years would likely continue.

Fans disappointment on Rory McIlroy’s winless major performances

Usually, players with a win in the last season are expected to perform better, but with McIlroy, it was different. Fans took a different route to his past and shared their perspective on Rory McIlroy’s major performance for the upcoming 2025 season.

Following the post, fans shared their answer, where one fan wrote, “Same as he’s won the last 10 yr.” The golfer’s victoryless performance is considered to be a forever thing as per the fan’s reaction to the question.

Other users also joined in with their opinion, one of them wrote, “Scotty, Xander, Bryson, Brooks, Ludwig – all Combined – are too good, as well as a random player having the tournament of his life – all too Much for him so….sadly….0.” Vouching on the previous year’s winners but sadly, McIlroy wasn’t part of it. As per the comment, random players are having a great time at the major’s course but not the 2014 PGA Champion.

For the rest of the users, it was the same as one commented, “Zero,” joined by another stating, “😂😂😂 can I say negative? He won his last in 2014.” The attempts of him are being neglected by the fans as they are reacting with negative comments, which might mean missing a cut or not being in the top 10s or top 25s.

The dilemma with the history and current form continues for fans, as one of them commented, It’s ten years. Heart says one…head says none.” Most of the golf world wants him to win, but his past record has pushed the fans into a heartbreaking prediction. But apart from the disappointing comments, some took his side and predicted the number of his wins. McIlroy’s favored fan commented, “Feels like he is due for 1. Burden of the split is behind him.⛳️🔥.” While the burden of a split might be true for him, as he has shared his interest in the merger. However, the fans are eager to see him perform the same as he did in 2014.

This season could bring change for him. He has already been on a high with the season-ending event, and some great finishes in 2024. It will be great to witness if McIlroy can still continue his winning form in 2025. Can he continue with the same in 2025? That question remains unanswered till now.
