‘Running Into an Ex’: Paige Spiranac Once Savagely Took Down Phil Mickelson After the Lefty Parted Ways With Jim ‘Bones’ MacKay

Phil Mickelson has been a professional golfer for three decades now. In most of his professional career, Lefty has had only two caddies, one of whom was his caddie from his debut season till 2017. However, as Phil decided to part ways with Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay, the caddie was then approached by Justin Thomas to become his caddie. In 2020, after JT’s WGC win with his caddie, the duo was a center of a joke made by none other than Paige Spiranac.

There is hardly anything in the sport of golf that goes out without the knowledge of Spiranac. Being golf’s biggest social media entity, she has her say on every happening in the sport. Two years ago, Spiranac trolled Phil Mickelson with a joke related to his ex-caddie.

What was Paige Spiranac’s joke on Phil Mickelson and Justin Thomas?

The caddie, ‘Bones’ Mackay, has been a key figure in the success of Mickelson. The latter has been Phil’s caddie since his debut in 1992. However, the 6 time Major winner decided to finally assign the caddie duties to his brother, Tim Mickelson in 2017. Gradually, Mackay then became the caddie of Justin Thomas.

During the 2019-20 PGA Tour season, Thomas has an impressive run. He had 3 wins to his name. His final win for the season came at World Golf Championship FedEx St. Jude Invitational. Meanwhile, Mackay’s old pal Mickelson concluded the event tied to 2nd position.

Seeing the victory grasped away by his former caddie’s golfer, many took to Twitter to mock Mickelson. One of whom was Paige Spiranac. Following JT’s win, Spiranac tweeted, “Phil watching JT and bones win is like running into an ex and his new girlfriend”.

Fans joined in on the banter by sharing their comical reactions. However, some fans didn’t seem to have gotten the joke, as one of them mentioned the number of Major wins Mickelson has. Nonetheless, Spiranac clapped back at the hater by tweeting, “Almost as laughable as you taking a tweet seriously”.

Both golfers have enjoyed success following the change of caddie. Earlier this year, JT won the PGA Championship, while Mickelson won that same Major last year, with his brother in position as a caddie. Undoubtedly, Spiranac was trolling the golfers as she usually does, after all, being the biggest golf social media influencer does give her the authority to make some hilarious jokes.
