The Americans have finally started to fight back! Undoubtedly, the Ryder Cup is one of the most coveted tournaments. The sentiments associated with the tournament weigh more on the scale of patriotism and less on any other element. The proof of this is clearly visible from the grounds of ancient Rome as the players from both ends locked horns, amidst rising tension.

Where Europeans commanded the match play on the first day and the first half of the second day, the American contingent was finally able to convert some of the shots into victory. An almost seven-point lead was reduced to a five-point difference as Day 3 awaits. However, as the finale approaches, the emotions are soaring higher than before. And Rory McIlroy just presented proof of the same through his aggressive reaction post-Day 2 gameplay. The golf enthusiasts couldn’t help but answer to Northern Irishman’s furious expressions.

Just after the end of the second day, matters on the Italian green seemed to have turned sour post a probable conflict between the players of the two teams. Like any other situation, it was the social media sites that spread the word like fire in the golf community.

Through the video uploaded on ‘X’ by Kyle Porter, a golf writer at CBS Broadcasting, the situation could be witnessed to have heated up to an unexpected level. Quoting the tweet, “HOLY CR*P WHAT IS HAPPENING!” Porter appeared to be hosting the reaction everyone would be feeling offline and online.

In the said clip, Northern Irish star Rory McIlroy could be seen shouting at someone not visible on camera. However, from the anger on the golfer’s face and the horrified expressions that everyone around hosts, the incident obviously looked to be completely out of control.

In quick control of the situation, his fellow player, Shane Lowry, could be seen jumping in to stop McIlroy from moving toward the bearer of his angry shouts. While the situation off-course seems to have ticked off to the wrong setting, even on-course scenes depicted a similar look.

Players like Sam Burns and Max Homa could be witnessed reacting strongly to the words of the crowd, especially after grabbing victories in their respective rounds. Watching all the action happen in Rome, even fans online could not help but jump in with their own responses and feelings.

However, the recent Rory McIlroy incident seemed to prove how the biennial tournament, in all aspects, brings forth unexpected responses from everyone involved. One fan in particular, without caring about any censorship, addressed the Northern Irish golfer to continue shouting. In a rather direct manner, the spectator wrote, “Keep crying Rory.”

A former golf player, Eric Tang, grabbed the opportunity to comment on the constant aggression seen in the tournament. Drawing out humor from the tense situation, he wrote:

Another fan predicted it to be the start of the European side’s decline of dominance on the course. Seemingly as a retribution to the star, the viewer replied:
