When it comes to playing golf, apart from receiving support from behind the rope, there is another very important source of support. The looper carrying around the bags of the pros. Well, Sahtith Theegala is glad to have one of the best members on his team. Carl Smith was appointed as his caddie for 2024. And their partnership dates back to his days of collegiate golfing, making the relationship all the more special. 

Carl Smith and Sahith Theegala’s partnership on the golf course is grounded in trust, mutual respect, and plenty of discussions about other sports. While navigating the greens, the pair frequently shift their focus from golf to their shared passion for basketball. A surprisingly unexpected topic, but one that adds an interesting dynamic to their partnership. Well, as it turns out, in reward for all the hard work Smith has done for Theegala, the PGA Tour gifted him with one of the biggest prized possessions.

Sahith Theegala’s girlfriend, Juju R Chan, recently took to her official Instagram account and shared a video. In that Sahith Theegala is seen gifting Carl Smith a Rolex watch as a thank-you gift. He comes in with a gift package thanking Smith for everything he has done. As he receives the package, he sees the Rolex logo and is in disbelief. He opens the box puts on the watch and even says “That’s not mine.”. However, also adds, “Even if you just say thank you, it makes you wanna show up and work harder every day.”

While Juju R Chan captioned the video, “I love Sahith and Carl’s relationship🥹🫶🏼”. Sahith Theegala once again leaves a heartwarming message for his caddie. And in the comments wrote, “Carl is the man and he earned it! Guy grinds his ass off and is just a great friend. Wouldn’t be here without him.. to many more memories on and off the course 🫡”.

Well, this also left the entire golf community emotional. And they praised him for the amazing gesture.

The Golf Community appreciates Carl Smith’s hard work in Sahith Theegala’s success

More than just having a professional relationship, Carl Smith and Sahith Theegala are also great friends off the course. A memorable moment of friendship between Sahith Theegala and his caddie, Carl Smith came during the 2021 Waste Management Phoenix Open. As Theegala made a final-round push, Smith offered calm encouragement and light-hearted banter. Thus helping his player stay focused and relaxed under pressure. Although Theegala finished as runner-up, their strong bond and mutual respect were evident. Hence showcasing their close friendship both on and off the course.

There have been a lot of other times where Smith has proven that caddies are the true best friends for a golfer inside the greens. Taking to this, one of them wrote, “I’ve had the privilege of having a brief interaction with both Sahith and Carl…they are both incredible team. If you’re looking for people to root for…these are your guys.” Another simply commented, “That’s how you treat your caddie everyone takes care of your best friends! ⛳️”

Sahith Theegala earned his PGA Tour card for the 2021–2022 season after two consecutive top-ten finishes in the Korn Ferry Tour Finals. Ever since he has been able to grab only one win. But the 2024 season, has made him reach third on the FedEx Cup standings, with a thirteenth rank on the OWGR list. Crediting Carl Smith partially for this, one of them even wrote, “So dope, that’s why he is having so much success on tour. The man blesses those who help him and the ones he cares about. 🙏🏾. So dope.”

In the video, Carl Smith puts on the watch and is still in disbelief. However, the moment Sahith Theegala and his girlfriend assure him it’s for him, he goes to Theegala and gives him a tight hug. Taking to this, people left comments like, “Stop I’m crying 🥲 this is so sweet” and “So wholesome – the hug at the end!”
