Daly had beat Rocca in an incredible playoff and the entire crowd held its breath. Soon after he putted the ball at the 18th hole to win his first Open Championship, Daly’s wife greeted him with excitement and ran up to hug him. But Daly’s wife wasn’t the only person who ran up then.

The streaker leaves his mark at St. Andrews

The infamous Mark Roberts was the streaker at Daly’s second major. Streaking back then was the act of running naked in a public place. Roberts has streaked in more than 13 countries, over 500 times. He was present at the Open Championship too, waiting for the perfect moment. “As John Daly approached the 18th green, I got ready,” he said in an interview back in 2009.

Right after John Daly won the fourth PGA Tour event, Roberts ran onto the course completely naked. On his back were etched the words “19th hole,” along with an arrow pointing towards his butt. Roberts was being chased by the police and a friend he had made earlier that day in the parking lot.

As Mark ran past the former POTUS and Prince Andrews, the two applauded and cheered him on. He said, “[I] saw George Bush and Prince Andrew clap and cheer as I ran past.” That, along with the screams and cheers from the rest of the crowd, filled Roberts with pride. Moments later, he came to a halt and was tackled to the ground before being taken off the course.
