The 2023 season for the PGA Tour and LIV Golf had been spectacular. The LIV Golf season has ended with crowning Talor Gooch as the individual champion and Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers GC won the team championship in Miami.

Meanwhile, the PGA Tour is still in its final event progression before the season ends with the Hero World Tour in early December. However, despite the difference in formats, a startling revelation berates the highest money earner, Scottie Scheffler on the PGA Tour.

Scottie Scheffler gets belittled by Talor Gooch

Scottie Scheffler is a loyal golfer of the PGA Tour. Despite LIV Golf’s million-dollar contracts, Scheffler did not join the breakaway league like Talor Gooch or Dustin Johnson. In early January, Scheffler expressed that after LIV Golf’s emergence, the golf world had become “strange.”

Moreover, the 2022 Master’s winner cleared that he was “not going to LIV anytime soon”. LIV Golf lured the former PGA Tour pros by showing them the money they could earn in LIV. Scheffler, just like Rory McIlroy and many others, was not tempted to betray the PGAT.

Was this decision comparably beneficial for Scheffler? if money is concerned, we say not at all. Scottie Scheffler stands first on the money earned in a single season list followed by Jon Rahm. Scheffler has secured $21,014,342 in this season through various appearances. Quite a lot of money.

However, when comparing that to the LIV Golfers’ 2023 season earnings, the difference will shock you, as it did us. The highest earner in the PIF-backed league is none other than Talor Gooch. Gooch has secured $47,961,744 with $36 million in 2023 alone. Even adding Rahm and Scheffler’s amount will not reach the limit Gooch has set.

The second-highest earner on the LIV’s list by National Club Golf too had $47 million in his bag. Being devoted to the PGA Tour golfers surely lack a few million bucks, however, they have earned better things for their game altogether.

Another comparison between golfers of two leagues

The PGA Tour pros can enjoy the privilege of getting world ranks and exemption for the majors. Meanwhile, LIV golfers have been rejected by the Official World Golf Ranking and the R&A for their involvement in the system.

Owing to the unique format of the freshest league, the golfers cannot step up in the OWGR leaderboard, resulting in the risk of missing the four important majors of the golf world. So, as LIV golfers enjoy having more money, PGA Tour players will still relish the joy of playing the game they love entirely.
