Scottie Scheffler might have been the Player of the Year, but he wasn’t the man of the hour yesterday. How can you when you have a months-old toddler who takes all the limelight on himself? The world no. 1 golfer and his wife brought their 10-month-old baby to the media room. And guess what? Bennet seems to have acquired a taste for shiny trophies and mementos, just like his dad.
In a recently released video by the PGA Tour, Bennet is seen going for the Jack Nicklaus Award as Scheffler holds the trophy in front of him. Of course, he wants to take a bite of it. Just like he wanted to take a bite of his dad’s cap after he had won the Hero World Challenge. And then world no. 1 puts the award down on the floor, trying to see if Bennet still crawls towards it.
And, of course, the toddler does. Meredith jokingly quipped, “Man, you’re really making him work for it.” And Scottie Scheffler did. Bennet crawled towards the trophy, and the golfer joked, “Atta boy!” You can watch the clip here.

The Schefflers are quickly becoming the Tour’s no. 1 family. Bennett is the 2x Masters winner’s first child and ever since his birth, he has been stealing limelight from his champion of a father. Fans love to watch the three together. Last time, when Meredith brought Bennet to the Travelers Championship, fans were as enthusiastic as they were now.

Fans go gaga over Scottie Scheffler’s son
Is Bennet Scheffler predestined to lift the trophy one day? Surely, it’s too early to predict. But netizens did engage in some good-natured speculations. While a few of them think this is the most obvious mark of a future champion, others found a not-so-surprising reason for Bennet to get attracted to the Tour of the Year trophy.
“That’s a future champ there and his dad,” one of the fans wrote. Some were already rooting for a father-son outing at the PNC Championship. Even if Scottie Scheffler’s son indeed picks golf, like Tiger Woods’s son did, it’s still a good decade before these two might tee off together. One of the fans went a step further and wrote, “He’ll be breaking 80 before we know it…”

That, or he might have just thought it was chocolate. “He thinks it’s (sic!) chocolate,” joked one fan. The color of the trophy can surely make a toddler think it’s chocolate.

Should the PGA Tour provide more glimpses into the golfers’ personal and private lives? More wholesome videos like these? From the comments, it seems there is evidence of that. “I love when you guys show the family side of the golfers; it really brings a lot to the table. And all your other content is awesome as well.” A second person added, “Family of the year right there.” It’s fair to say that Scheffler & Meredith have become the next ‘Jack & Barbara’ of the Tour. Fans love them and their newest member of the family.
