Joining LIV Golf helped many golfers, including the legendary Spanish golfer, Sergio Garcia, to become richer. Since they had only eight events on the Invitational Series for the inaugural season, he also got time for personal activities. However, it didn’t help him to continue the legacy or the records he had created before.
Garcia became one of the Top 100 golfers on the Official World Golf Rankings in 1999, the same year he turned professional. He was not always a consistent golfer; like everyone else, he also had bad days and good days. However, that didn’t let him fall out of the Top 100 player list in the last 23 years.

The LIV Golf Invitational Series is the most prize money-offering event in the history of golf. They had allotted $20 million purse each for eight individual competitions for the 48 players. The Saudi-backed league helped the players to become millionaires in just over 6 months.

However, the series doesn’t provide OWGR points. Although the officials have applied to get accreditation by the World Rankings, they have yet to get approval. And it caused Sergio Garcia to be the 99th golfer in the standings. It is only a matter of time before the golfer loses the 23-year-old achievement he had.
Notably, the PGA Tour has suspended him and other LIV golfers from attending any of its events. This also led him not to earn any more OWGR points to his tally.
Interestingly, falling out of the Top 100 standings is not the only thing playing in LIV Series made him lose. Garcia is considered the greatest by Team Europe in terms of the Ryder Cup. Since the beginning of his career, he has attended 10 Ryder Cup events and boasts a 25-13-7 record.
However, with players like Rory McIlroy being vocal about not being okay with letting the LIV players play in the upcoming Ryder Cup, the chances are Garcia would never play in the prestigious team event ever.

Winning each individual LIV event would have helped Garcia become $4 million richer. However, he couldn’t win any in the inaugural series. The closest he came to winning was the 4th place he got in Chicago and Jeddah.
However, his team, Fireballs GC, had won a team event while they competed in Bangkok. Notably, he was the captain of the team for the 2022 season.
