Nordegren has rarely said anything about her personal life in public, especially about her divorce from Tiger Woods. But things were completely different at her graduation ceremony in her college on Saturday night. Nordegren won the Outstanding Graduating Senior Award at Rollins College. The award is equivalent to being called a valedictorian, according to the school’s website.

The college grad did not mention Woods by his name but talked about the situations that made her life miserable. “And it was right after I had taken communication and the media [class], I was unexpectedly thrust into the media limelight,” she said about Woods’ extra-marital affairs. She added, “And I probably should have taken more notes in that class.”

Nordegren also smiled and talked about where she stands in life at the moment. “Today, nine years later, I’m a proud American and I have two beautiful children.” After a pause, she added, “But I’m no longer married.” and made everyone giggle and applaud the brave woman.

Woods’ take on his divorce from Nordegren

Woods has always been honest about his personal life with his fans. The golf ace got divorced from Elin Nordegren in 2010. The ex-couple also has two children together – Sam and Charlie. The children were little when the two split up. However, Woods took responsibility to make the kids aware of the situation before they grew older. He said, “Guys, the reason why we’re not in the same house, why we don’t live under the same roof, mummy and daddy, is because daddy made some mistakes”.

A lot of Woods’ fans had to reconsider his legacy after the news of him cheating on his wife went viral. Tiger Woods has been close to his kids and is currently dating Erica Herman. Herman is very supportive of Woods and the two got even closer after Woods’ car crash in February 2021.
