The Masters Tournament is popular for making and following their own traditions. While the golf world would be excited to watch all of them happening inside the Augusta National Golf Club, John Daly would be following his own outside it.

Daly took his Instagram to announce he would be selling his merchandise outside the Augusta National this year as well. 

The last time the two-time major winner has played at the Masters was in 2006. He had missed the cut then. Despite being invited to play the Par-3 contest, the golfer wouldn’t go inside the club but stay outside and sell his merchandise.

Daly has been doing this since he began his relationship with Hooters in 1997. The golfer usually parks his tour bus in the Hooters’ parking lot and sells his merchandise and CDs to his fans. Furthermore, it is an opportunity for fans to take a photo with him and get his autographs since he enjoys interacting with them.

“Hooters is like a family to me, you know?” Daly explained what his edition of Masters tradition means to him in an interview with David Meltzer.

“We have done this since 1997 when I played the Masters, and I do it when I don’t,” the golfer added. “So it’s kind of a tradition now, and you just can’t beat it.” 

Since he turned pro, the golfer has played at the Masters 12 times. Although he has never won the title, he was able to finish at T3 back in 1993. Though there are many traditions followed at the Augusta National event, Daly enjoys his tradition the most. 

The real Masters Tournament traditions

According to the research conducted by PGA.com, there are some Master traditions that people love the most. And not surprisingly, the presentation of the Green Jacket to the champion is named the no. 1. among them. 

Although it is exclusive to the previous champions only, the golf world loves the Champions Dinner conducted by the Augusta National. The ceremonial opening shots, skipping the ball on 16, and Par-3 Contest are other traditions that the fans enjoy watching the most.

Furthermore, the viewers at home love the championship for the limited commercials in between the tournament. The tradition has been around for a long time, and the officials intend to keep it that way.
