

Apart from being considered one of the greatest golfers of all time, Tiger Woods’ philanthropic work is also widely appreciated. The golfer has always been a man of the people since his early professional days. However, Woods has also learned a lot from his philanthropic work, as he once shared the leadership skills that he acquired through his foundation.
Tiger started the Tiger Woods Foundation back in 1996, the same year he made his debut in the professional circuit. The foundation has opened several learning centers for kids. It mainly focuses on offering college-access programs and classes to underprivileged youth.

With the foundation having the same age as his professional life, it is quite evident that Woods had learned a lot from the foundation too. He once shared the leadership skills that he acquired from his philanthropic work.

Back in 2014, Tiger had a sit-down interview with Forbes’ Rahim Kanani. Though most interviews of the golfer consist of questions regarding his sport, this interview mostly emphasized on his philanthropic work.

Both men talked about the Tiger Woods Foundation in-depth. The interviewer then asked Woods what leadership skills he has learned from the foundation in the past 18 years of its existence. The 15-time Major winner shares his learnings.

Woods said, “I’ve learned that the sky is the limit, and my staff continues to find creative ways to make our goals a reality. They’re the best in the business when it comes to philanthropic work, event planning and education” while talking about his team at the Tiger Woods Foundation.
The 46-year-old also shared how he has learned to trust his team. “I’ve learned to trust them and know that they are the backbone of my foundation”, said Woods. Thanks to his foundation, Tiger did learn leadership traits.
The 15-time Major winner had the opportunity to lead Team USA in a professional competition at the 2019 Presidents Cup. The American Team defeated the International Team with a score of 16-14. Moreover, he showed more of his leadership skills in the recent meeting of the PGA Tour players. Woods was the head of the table to discuss the next steps to be taken for the Tour to take down LIV Golf. Maybe his learnings from the Foundation did come in handy.
