Over the past few months, Cameron Smith has rightly been the talk of the town. The Australian sensation initially made headlines for his impressive run at tournaments, along with being the 2022 PGA Player of the Year. However, with good comes the bad. Despite enjoying massive success on the PGA tour, Smith recently announced a shift to LIV Golf. A decision, that instantly pulled down Smith from being on cloud nine.

In March this year, Smith successfully shimmered at the TPC Sawgrass Golf Course to win the 2022 Players Championship. As per the tradition, the Players Championship winner gets a a bag full of perks along with the title. One such perk is a reserved parking in front of the TPC Sawgrass parking lot.
Following his win, the former World No. 2 was also given a reserved parking spot in the parking lot of the historical golf course. However, his shift to LIV Golf seems to have taken away that benefit.
TPC Sawgrass removes the reserved parking spot for Cameron Smith
Following Smith’s LIV Golf announcement, officials at the Floridian golf course took a major step by removing the reserved board from the parking spot. The board, which previously read ‘Reserved. 2022 Players Champion. Cameron Smith’ was recently changed to ‘Reserved. Tour Players Only’. Opening up about the step, officials at the Golf Course said, “If they go to LIV they don’t have any of their (PGA) Tour privileges at TPC properties.”

The change spread like wildfire in the golfing world. The result? – A Twitter debate. Golfing fans from around the world have been taking to their Twitter handle, presenting their views on the step taken by the iconic golf course.
Hollywood actor, Jordon Hodges, also took to his Twitter handle to express his views on the same.
petty
— Jordon Hodges (@jordon_hodges) September 6, 2022
While Hodges opted to keep it subtle and simple, that wasn’t the case with other golfing fans. Several fans indulged in what one could term as a serious banter. While some came out it support of the step, others presented a different opinion:
The PGA has become so petty it’s honestly become difficult to even want to watch their events anymore. With the great golf played in Boston this past weekend the PGA isn’t helping their case pulling more stunts like this.

The PGA tour is acting like a child thru all of this. It's sad to watch really. Sorry LIV called you out

I read that Cam called Monahan and said: Jay, c’mon this is getting ridiculous. You’re being petty. And Jay said… I know you are but what am I?

He said it was time to stir things up and that's what's happening….deal !!
— Jimmy (@Jimmenning) September 6, 2022
The name of the tournament is the Player’s Championship, invented and started by the members of the PGAT (as was the tour itself). If you’re not a PGA member, you don’t get a parking spot in the players lot.

It’s an event on the PGA Tour. Cam left the PGA Tour. If NBA champion Steph Curry leaves the Warriors and the NBA would they let him keep his parking spot?
— Glen Faucher (@glenAJfaucher) September 6, 2022
They aren’t going to advertise for a non tour player, it’s not that difficult to understand.

While a large section section of fans indulged in a banter of right and wrong, another section took a step further. Taking to their Twitter handles, a couple of fans made a mention about how the decision wouldn’t affect the multi-millionaire Cameron Smith.
That's OK because he'd rather park his @Lamborghini towards the back of the lot anyway.

With 100 million he can pay someone to drop him off, no parking spot needed.

I don’t thank Cam will care when he arrives via Private Jet and limo service each day, would absolutely love it if he defended his title!

While the change has ignited a war of words between the fans, it is yet to receive a comment by Smith himself. Following his inaugural LIV Golf game in Boston, the 2022 Open champion is now polishing himself for Chicago.
