For anyone that watched the Ryder Cup, Rory McIlroy looked awfully out of form. In fact, he produced one of his worst ever Ryder Cup performances ever, with a score of 1-3-0.

The first two days brought disappointment for the Irishman. Moreover, he sat out during Saturday morning’s foursomes, a first in his Ryder Cup career. Brimming with regret at his poor contribution, he put in everything he had in his singles match. And he recorded a 3 & 2 win over Xander Schauffele to give Team Europe their first point for the day.

In a post-match interview, McIlroy could not maintain his composure and was overcome with emotion. Tearfully and honestly, he said, “I have never really cried or got emotional over what I’ve done as an individual, I couldn’t give a sh*t,” Moreover, he told Sky Sports, “I love being part of this team. I love my teammates and I should have done more for them.”
