Paige Spiranac is a former professional golfer turned social media influencer. She is the most followed golfer on Instagram, with more than 3 million followers. The 29-year-old also hosts a podcast named ‘Playing a Round with Paige Renee,’ where she recently shared a traumatizing experience she had. 

“So, I had a very interesting thing happen to me recently,” Spiranac said. She shared her traumatic experience at a country golf club in the latest episode of her podcast, ‘What’s a Niblick?’ 

“I wore something that I knew I wouldn’t get in trouble with. It had a collar; I zipped the zipper up.” The golf club Spiranac visited didn’t have any dress code mentioned online. Hence, she chose to dress moderately for not to get into trouble.

Yet, a woman complained to the staff as she thought it was inappropriate for the place. The traditional women’s golf attire includes a collared shirt, non-denim pants, shorts, or skirts. Since some clubs still follow this rule, Spiranac always looks up the dress code before visiting a new club. 

Spiranac explained the staff didn’t mind her dress and asked the woman not to talk to her about it. Still, she went to her after the game in the parking space and said, “You (Spiranac) need to hear this woman to woman. You look cute, but that’s highly inappropriate.”

According to Spiranac, the woman made her feel small for wearing what she thought was an inappropriate dress. “It was one of the most traumatizing experiences I’ve had on a golf course in a really long time,” she added. Furthermore, Spiranac explained that what the woman thought was a woman-to-woman talk felt like a verbal assault. The woman was just being “such an a**hole.” 

Paige Spiranac is not a risk-taker in real life

Spiranac posts photos of her playing on golf courses wearing non-traditional golf attires. She seems like she doesn’t care about the rules and does whatever she wants. However, do not let the few photos on social media fool you. 

“On social media, it’s the wild wild west! You can basically do whatever you want,” Spiranac explained. “But in real life, I’m a very different person. I don’t take many risks.” Furthermore, she added, “I’m a people pleaser.” 

As a people pleaser, Spiranac always tries to be cautious when she goes to a different club to play golf. Yet, she had an unpleasant experience with a woman. And the former golfer found it the most traumatizing experience she had in golf in a long time.
