Recalling the gone-by years of Phil Mickelson on the pro tour, one can think of him as a bulky player. Something, which he took notice of and started working upon in 2019. Three years later, today, Mickelson enjoys the pleasure of being a rather fit player in comparison to his past physique.

Even though the former World No. 2 today enjoys the benefits of his comparatively lean physique, not all of those benefits are newfound ones. One of which is athleticism. Despite having a bulky physique, Mickelson has always had a decent amount of athleticism within him. An apt example of this was seen in 2018.
Phil Mickelson kicks off the bottle in style
Walking down memory lane, the year 2018 was an unpleasant one for Mickelson at the Ryder Cup in France. Despite giving his all, the 6-time champion suffered losses in the foursomes, as well as the singles.

Even though the disappointment was clearly visible on his face, he made sure not to carry it outside the golf course. Following his loss, Mickelson, along with a few of his teammates, headed to a club, where he gave a glimpse of his athleticism. Wearing a black T-shirt and American flag-colored trousers, he raised his leg to knock down a bottle placed on a person’s head.

The Tweet, initially shared by Mickelson’s fellow countryman, Bubba Watson, took no time to spread around the golf world. Goes without saying, Mickelson’s show of utmost athleticism opened the doors for opinions from around the globe.
Taking to the comments section, a user took a dig at Mickelson, drawing a comparison between his game and his kick. “He’s out of shape and his game is gone…but if that’s the card you have left to play, then play it .he swings his leg better than his club,” he wrote.

Did the bottle end up in the water, like most of his shots.

While the above golf fans directed their views toward Mickelson, another section went a step further. Instead of making an individual dig, the other set of fans opted to call the entire American team for their performance at the 2018 Ryder Cup.

This wasn’t the first time that Mickelson gave a glimpse of his impressive high kick. Walking further back in memory lane, two months prior to this video, the World Golf Hall of Famer was featured in an advertisement for one of its sponsors, Mizzen+Main. In the video, Mickelson was seen giving a glimpse of his dance moves. Moves, that also included a high kick.
