‘Team Events Are Only Hurting Themselves’: Bryson DeChambeau Calls Out Presidents Cup Over Suspension of LIV Golfers

Bryson DeChambeau is one of the most talked about players who decided to make a move to LIV Golf. The eight time PGA Tour winner, however, gave a statement involving the Tour recently.


The ongoing rift between the Tours and LIV defectors is not a secret kept from anyone. With each passing day, a new verdict faces the world of golf when it comes to this matter. DeChambeau for one does not support the Tours’ decision against the players. Recently, he presented his critique on the same.

As is well known, DeChambeau’s has shifted to LIV Golf. This clearly implies that the American pro golfer will not be able to play in the Presidents Cup scheduled next week.

This is sad news for DeChambeau and his fans considering his history of playing the game. DeChambeau, however, made it clear that he will make sure to watch the game whatsoever. The golf enthusiast in DeChambeau has definitely not changed with a change in his professional alliance.

However, Bryson did not shy away from expressing how he felt about the events not letting pro golfers like himself, who defected, play. He said, “I personally think that the team events are only hurting themselves by not allowing us to play, not allowing us to qualify through some capacity, in some facet.”

We are no judge of the quantity of who had a bigger loss. But, it is certain that DeChambeau will not be playing in the Presidents Cup as of now.

DeChambeau’s move to LIV Golf was one of the most talked about ones. The pro golfer reasoned out his shift by saying that it was a personal business decision.

Additionally, DeChambeau also said that one of his reasons for making the shift was the easier schedule that comes with LIV. It gives the players more time to rest.

He said, “One of the things for me was that it was a personal business decision. I run and operate my golf as a business as well as want to be one of the better players in the world.  Second off, it was going to give me more resources and opportunities to reinvest in my local community, in Dallas, and back at my original home in California where I can do things for junior golf tours, improve my foundation, and also build the multi-sport complex in Dallas, and give me more time to rest.”
