The Twin Warriors Golf Club in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico, was the host of the 2022 Women’s PGA Cup. South Africa competed for the first time this year, joining the other teams who participated three years ago. Team USA went on to claim the trophy with a final score of one under par, beating Canada by 2 strokes.
Team USA makes a comeback from round one
In the tournament, day one did not end ideally for Team USA. They finished round 1 with a score of 6-over-par. Both Team Canada and Great Britain & Ireland finished ahead of them, beating them by 5 and 6 strokes, respectively.
The second round saw a much better result for the two-time PGA Cup holders. They were the only team to end the round with an under-par score. They beat both Canada and Great Britain & Ireland by six strokes and ended the round on five-under-par. The pressure was on; all they had to do was win round three and pick up the cup, but with both Great Britain & Ireland and Canada chasing their tail, it was important to stay calm and focused.

Team USA kept their cool and did not panic. “Nobody panicked,” said Team USA’s Jim Richerson. On the final day of the PGA Cup, Team USA went on to take the lead again with a 2-over par score, beating Canada by one and Great Britain & Ireland by a whopping seven strokes.
The PGA Cup is successfully defended by Team USA
Stephanie Connelly-Eiswerth hit the game-winning shot for the United States. Connelly-Eiswerth’s par on the par-4, 395-yard 18th sealed the deal for team USA. She also recorded two consecutive 3-under par 70s today to push the United States to win the title.
Despite her disappointing start in round one (seven over par), she concentrated on the captain’s “one shot at a time” mantra to get back in the game and win the title for the team with her last stroke. Soon after her final shot, her teammates gathered around her on the course and started celebrating their win.

Back in 2019, the hosts won the Cup, held at the Barton Creek Resort in Austin, Texas, by four strokes, led by Suzy Whaley. Today, under the guidance of Captain Jim Richerson, they clinched their second title. Jim Richerson, who is also the PGA President, proudly said, “Everybody just played their game, concentrating on what we talked about all week, which was one shot at a time, one hole at a time.”
