We are well aware of the tipping techniques of Phil Mickelson. The descriptive profile of ‘lefty’ by Alan Shipnuck revealed that he likes to tip in $2 bills and lots of them. We also know him for being left-handed while hitting golf balls but being right-handed regarding personality. We know many things about him, including the ups and down in his life. But did you know about his distaste for the Golf channel’s commentator back in 2018?

Along with the unique tipping method, his dislike for Brandel Chamblee was also the talk of the town then. In the profile by Shipnuck, there was an exciting and surprising thought of Mickelson on the commentator. Chamblee is well known for his courage to speak his mind. Nothing makes him afraid; however, those brave words sometimes create a nuisance, like him asking golf to ban Twitter. Even though being critical and open can be very annoying for golfers, Chamblee still chooses to be critical.

Why does Phil Mickelson dislike the Golf commentator?

LIV defector, Phil Mickelson, never cared about any opinion of Chamblee, even though he was a good commentator. Shipnuck asked Mickelson if there was something we needed to learn about his dislike for the commentator. The former PGA golfer said that even though he wanted to develop the game, the ways of Chamblee were wrong. He said“I feel like he’s made his commentating career on denigrating others. And I don’t care for that.”

According to the major championship winner, everyone wants the game of golf to improve. Everyone is working for golf, be it players or authorities. But the commentary by the Golf channel commentator was disparaging. His utter criticism was something that Phil did not care about. Because Mickelson believed in encouraging people rather than pinning them down with words, he said, “I like people who help build the sport up and promote it for what it is, rather than tearing down and ridiculing others.”

Chamblee has gone after the LIV golfer before too. Ahead of the 2016 Ryder Cup, he and David Duval got into a heated discussion about Mickelson and Woods’ contribution to American underachievement at the event. However, the former PGA player paid no heed to his comments.

Why was Mickelson relieved?

Even the movie La La Land is part of the dislike. Once Chamblee gave excellent reviews of the film on Twitter. Mickelson, as usual, wasn’t happy about it and expressed how he hated the movie.

However, Mickelson was relieved that it wouldn’t make him equal to Chamblee. Any equality would have thrown him into an unending loop. He said, “Oh, see, that makes perfect sense, ’cause he and I don’t see eye to eye on anything.” The LIV player made clear how the views of the commentator and the golfer were utterly different.
